As a world renowned opera company, we are keen to attract the widest range of high calibre applicants to work with us. The service Employment Office provided was both cost effective and efficient. Utilising the Candidate Management System really cut down on our time when sifting responses and allowed us to focus on processing only the most suitable candidates. The support we received during the campaign was professional and friendly. We are definitely considering using Employment Office again.

Print Systems Australia

"Finding the right staff can be a stressful time for any business simply because it requires allocating precious resources when your team really needs to be at full strength.

Challenge

  • Print Systems Australia, a premier Queensland-based offset printer, needed a way to recruit quality staff members without having an existing employee devote hours of time towards short listing and interviewing applications. When PSA advertised roles themselves, hundreds of applicants were contacting the company via phone, fax and e-mail. PSA needed an effective method to track all candidate activities – there was no single location to house applications.
  • PSA didn’t want to lose all control over the hiring process, but needed someone to ‘do the leg work’ and present a quality shortlist of candidates to choose from

Solution

  • PSA purchased an Employment Office recruitment campaign, which meant that as well as writing a position overview and advertising the role, all applications were lodged through Employment Office’s Candidate Management System. All applicants answered the same first-round interview questions and were stored in the same online system (which was accessible via any computer with Internet access).
  • Despite the fact that over 100 applications were received, no one at PSA was required to devote time to short listing or contacting candidates, as PSA also enlisted the Employment Office Shortlisting Service. For a flat fee, Employment Office rated all applications as they came in, phone-screened and behaviour-tested the highly ranked, and performed reference checks. At the end Employment Office presented the top five candidates to PSA, who performed final interviews and made the ultimate hiring decision from there. PSA had full visibility into the shortlisting process.

Results

  • Highly effective recruitment campaign, which PSA maintained full control over the whole time
  • All applications stored in one place, and available for future reference (PSA may even choose to hire more people from this candidate database, down the track, for no extra fee)
  • No internal time wasted sorting through or interviewing inappropriate or unqualified candidates
